I’m starting to feel like a bottleneck.
Someone recently posted on a mailing list for an open source software tool I’ve used for 20 years.
They’d had Claude make a thing.
What did others think?
Here’s what I think.
- The thing they made had already been done. It was part of the functionality. Had they RTFM?
- Claude had done a new thing. What did they think of the thing? Did they have an opinion?
- How did this new thing fit into the existing world of things? Did they understand the context.
The poster didn’t have any ideas of their own. It was a Claude thing. And when a response came from people who knew about the thing, another Claude created response came back.
This kind of activity is about as much use as arm wrestling a cloud.
And it takes work. Work to figure out whether something is AI or not. Whether to ignore or engage.
And time…
Anyone else finding this is taking up more time than it’s saving?
